創辦人Mike Graham是美國攀岩界中一位傳奇人物。

在那個年代，攀岩手所穿的不外是牛仔褲或是長運動褲，兩者各有優劣，牛仔褲雖然耐磨，但過份緊身而影響動作，而運動褲(Track褲)雖然鬆身舒適，但完全不耐磨，無法抵受岩壁面之磨擦。Mike於是想到將兩者合而為一，他是將厚帆布製成如運動褲之式樣，及在褲頭上加上織帶及扣，使其更為穩固。

起初，Mike只是製來給自己及朋友穿著，但很快地，這種既舒適又耐穿之新式攀岩褲便傳遍了約西米提山谷之後眾多攀岩愛好者都來找Mike，希望能買到一條Mike所設計的攀岩褲。於是Mike便開始了Gramicci公司，一代經典Gramicci就此產生。
